Chandra Nair Residence, Jelebu Hills, Malaysia

Mr. Chandran Nair is a Malaysian environmental activist and founder of Global Institiute for Tomorrow (GIFT). Based in Hong Kong, his mission took him all over the world.

He commissioned this house partly to connect him with his past childhood in and also a hankering for the ‘better’ old days in Malaysian ‘kampungs’. More significantly though, he wanted to prove that one can design a sustainable building. He replanted some 200 tress in the surroinding hills, 10 times the amount of timber used in building this house.
